What We Do
The Saigon Equities Forum (SEF) Research Programme is a student-led analyst programme designed to provide hands-on exposure to Vietnamese capital markets through structured research and collaborative analysis.
Analysts at SEF work in small teams to produce professional-grade macroeconomic and equity research within an educational setting. The programme emphasizes rigorous and peer-reviewed analysis as well as real-world relevance, allowing members to develop the skills expected in investment banking, asset management, equity research, and related finance roles.
Each research cycle is organised across dedicated coverage areas, including Macro Research and Equity Research, with analysts contributing to sector notes, company reports, and thematic research on Vietnam’s economy and capital markets.
As part of the programme, analysts receive guidance and informal training from other members with insights from finance-related internships and research roles.
Typical areas of focus include:
• Analyzing macroeconomic indicators and policy developments relevant to Vietnam
• Building equity research reports, including industry analysis and investment theses
• Applying valuation frameworks such as Comparable Analysis, Dividend Discount Model, Sum-of-the-Parts, Discounted Cash Flow, etc.
• Developing written research suitable for public publication and recruiter-facing review
• Past and ongoing SEF research has covered topics ranging from Vietnam’s macroeconomic outlook and sector trends to single-stock equity research reports, reflecting a strong emphasis on commercial awareness and analytical depth.
